Trailer Rental in St. Peters, MO: Meet Burn the Ships Trailer Leasing
If you need a trailer in St. Charles County, you have probably seen the usual choices. One is a big rental counter with a tired trailer and a line out the door. The other is a stranger on an app whose trailer may or may not show up with working lights. Burn the Ships Trailer Leasing is a third choice: a small local fleet of new trailers, kept to a standard you can see, run by someone who answers the phone.
We are based in St. Peters and rent to people across St. Charles County and the west side of the St. Louis area. This post covers who we are, what we rent, and how a rental works from booking to return.
Who runs Burn the Ships
Burn the Ships is owned and run by Joshua Gulley. Joshua has more than 35 years with trucks and trailers. He started out backing boat trailers down ramps and went on to pull tractor-trailers for a living with a Class A commercial driver's license.
For the last 13 years he has also been a full-time firefighter, and that job shapes how the fleet is run. Firefighters check their equipment before it is needed, not after something breaks. Every trailer here gets the same treatment between rentals: lights, tires, lug nuts, coupler, straps, and winch.
It also means that when you call and ask "will my truck pull this?", you are talking to someone who has towed professionally. You will get a straight answer, even when the answer is "not with that vehicle."
About the name: "Burn the ships" is an old phrase for committing so fully that turning back is not an option. For a rental company, that means one thing: the trailer you booked shows up, in the condition we promised, every time.
The trailers
We keep the fleet small on purpose. Both trailers are 2026 models, so nothing here is somebody's worn-out hand-me-down.
20' Spartan enclosed trailer
The 20' Spartan enclosed trailer is the do-everything trailer. It has a rear ramp door, a side entry door, LED lights inside, and E-track along the walls and floor, so you can tie a load down almost anywhere. A Badland APEX 12,000 lb winch is mounted up front for pulling a car or UTV aboard.
Car-hauling straps and E-track straps come with it. If you are moving, moving dollies and moving blankets are included at no extra charge. Inside, it measures about 83 inches between the fenders, which clears most cars, and it holds up to four motorcycles.
22' MAXX-D tilt car hauler
The 22' MAXX-D car hauler is an open, tilt-deck car hauler built for one job: moving a vehicle. The deck tilts down to the ground, so there are no ramps to carry, line up, or forget. The same 12,000 lb Badland APEX winch sits on the fixed front section for cars that do not run. It has a diamond-plate deck and LED lighting.

How renting works
- Book online. Choose a trailer and your dates on our website. You see the full total before you pay, and the rental is paid at booking, so there is nothing to settle at pickup.
- Get your pickup details. Pickup is in St. Peters. We send you the exact location after you book.
- Walk around it together. At pickup we hook up with you, check the lights and coupler, and show you the winch, the straps, and on the car hauler, the tilt latch.
- Bring it back. Return it at the time on your booking, and you are done.
We are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. Plans change, so the cancellation rule is simple: cancel 48 hours or more before pickup for a full refund. Cancellations inside 48 hours carry a 25% fee.
